Was there a global CDK data breach?

CDK Global only recently confirmed that it was the target of a cyberattack, so it’s too early to say if there was a CDK data breach. However, CDK representatives spoke with reporters to provide some insight into what happened.

According to recent sources, CDK became aware of the data theft on June 18, 2024, after which the company shut down its data centers and IT systems. While these measures were necessary to protect the information in the company’s possession, they had a profound impact on the company’s over 15,000 dealerships that use CDK software.

CDK was in the process of bringing its systems back online on Wednesday when they were forced to shut down their systems again due to another cybersecurity incident. In fact, in a subsequent announcement, CDK stated: “We regret to inform you that we experienced another cyber incident late in the evening of June 19th.^th.”

According to CDK’s latest update, the company plans to bring its systems back online on June 21, 2024. However, some are concerned that CDK is moving too quickly to bring its systems back online, which could increase the risk to customers.
