Shooting in the streets of Oakland leads to closure of I-880 southbound for investigation

OAKLAND, Calif. (KGO) – The CHP determined Thursday that a shooting near 16th Avenue in Oakland occurred on city streets and not on the freeway.

Southbound Interstate 880 was reopened after about an hour of searching for shell casings.

The incident was reported around 5:20 p.m.

All lanes were closed, causing a long backlog for southbound commuter traffic all the way up to West Oakland.
