Accident involving two vehicles and injuries leads to closure of West Orvilla Road on Thursday evening

Due to a serious accident in Hatfield Township on Thursday evening, at least two people had to be taken to a nearby hospital by VMSC emergency services, and another person remained trapped in their vehicle at the corner of Orvilla Road and Schwab Road.

Orvilla Road is closed between Koffel Road and the railway crossing.

According to reports from the scene, a dark Toyota Camry and a light brown Toyota Corolla collided at the intersection at 10:27 p.m. The driver of the Camry had to be rescued from his vehicle and placed on a stretcher by the VMSC with a neck brace.

The driver of the Corolla told a reporter at the scene that he was turning left onto Schwab Road when the Camry collided with the Corolla in the middle of the curve.

The Hatfield Volunteer Fire Department was assisted on scene by the Hatfield Police Department, Towamencin Volunteer Fire Department, Fairmount Fire Department of Lansdale and the Hatfield Township Fire Marshal’s Office.

Both cars were badly damaged in the accident.

The crime scene remains under investigation.
