Goalie Jane Campbell signs four-year extension with Houston Dash

Houston Dash goalkeeper Jane Campbell has signed a four-year contract extension and will remain with the club through the 2027 season with an option for the 2028 season. Campbell played her entire professional career with Dash as she was the 15th overall pick in the 2017 NWSL Draft.

“When I was drafted here, I envisioned a career where I would play just for this team,” Campbell said. “Eight years later, I have spent my entire career in Houston and I want to thank my teammates, past and present, for their support and who made me the player I am today. The organization has evolved so much since 2017 and we feel like we’re making a new start with the arrival of Ted Segal and the management of the club. I want to be a part of realizing their vision for this team on and off the field.

Campbell continues his legacy with the Dash

As the 2023 NWSL Goalkeeper of the Year, Campbell made Dash history by conceding the fewest goals in club history with 18 goals allowed in 22 games.

During his eight-year NWSL career, Campbell logged 14,602 minutes and made 162 starts with a total of 492 saves.

With the NWSL currently in week 13 of a 25-week season, Campbell has recorded five clean sheets and leads the league in all-time saves with 64 saves.

“Jane is an integral part of the Dash and has proven herself to be one of the best players in the league. His work ethic, professional approach and commitment to his own development and that of the club as we evolve is world class,” said Dash General Manager Alex Singer. “She is our leader on the field and her impact goes beyond saves and shutouts as she is deeply engaged with our community. We are delighted to have agreed a new long-term contract and have every confidence in her to lead our club for years to come.

In their last match against Angel City FC, the match ended in a 0-0 draw. With Angel City awarded a penalty in the 55th minute, Campbell managed to stop the shot from hitting the back of the net to keep out Claire Emslie’s attempt, making it her 35th clean sheet in Dash history.

Despite Campbell’s individual success, the Dash are currently ranked 11th in the NWSL standings with a record of 3-6-4 (wins, losses, draws).

The Dash are scheduled to host the San Diego Wave FC on Saturday, June 22 for their first game of the season before beginning a two-game stretch on the road.
