Ryan Garcia is banned for one year and fined $10,000 after testing positive for performance-enhancing drugs: REPORT

Ryan Garcia is officially suspended!

Loud-mouthed boxer Ryan Garcia has been given a one-year suspension after reaching a settlement with the New York State Athletic Commission after testing positive for the performance-enhancing drug Ostarine, the commission announced Thursday and released the information to ESPN.

The ban applies retroactively to Garcia’s point victory against Devin Haney on April 20, which is now considered invalid after the verdict was overturned. (RELATED: Ryan Garcia announces his retirement, but should we really believe this guy?)

The commission also told the four-letter network that the 25-year-old was also forced to hand over his wallet, which ESPN reported totaled $1.2 million. However, that amount could be much higher, as his guaranteed winnings earned him millions of dollars more than the disclosed amount. Garcia was also fined $10,000 by the commission.

“I want to thank the commission and the fans who stood by me throughout the process,” Haney said in a phone interview with ESPN on Thursday in response to the news. “Facts are facts, and I was not given an equal opportunity. I’m glad I was able to get justice for what happened. This is all part of my story and will only make me better. I look forward to enjoying this time with my family and friends and seeing what’s next.”

Garcia’s team made the following statement on the suspension:

Maybe Ryan Garcia will retire after all… we’ll see.
