The Boys Season 4: Frenchie’s sexuality explained

Frenchie’s love life is taking a new direction in season 4 of The Boys, so you may be wondering: what is his sexuality? And is he in a relationship with Kimiko?

Homelander takes center stage in Season 4, Episode 1 of “The Boys” as he goes from being insane to taking his son Ryan under his wing.

But as we said in our review of The Boys season 4, there’s a lot of plot to get through, especially with two new Supes joining The Seven, Victoria Neuman’s rise to political power, and Butcher’s slow death due to his affair with Temp V.

There’s also the fan-favorite duo of Frenchie and Kimiko, whose relationship has evolved since they first met in Season 1. With the first three episodes of the latest chapter now out, here’s everything you need to know about their relationship and Frenchie’s sexuality. Warning: Spoilers follow!

Frenchie’s sexuality explained

As revealed in season 4 of The Boys, Frenchie is bisexual. He starts a relationship with Colinanother member of Narcotics Anonymous who works for Starlight House after Frenchie introduces him to Annie.

The great thing about this development is that it’s not made into a big deal, but rather his relationship with Colin is woven naturally into the story.

And while many viewers expressed surprise at the news, others knew long before he and Colin slept together or even before he and Kimiko kissed in season three of The Boys.

Four years ago, someone posted on Reddit: “He called Jay ‘my Dorothy’ and kissed his hand, wanted transgender strippers at MM’s bachelor party, kissed Hughie and told MM to keep an open mind. I’ve always felt bisexual vibes.”

Another replied: “As a bisexual person, I would love it if it were true (I’ve been waiting forever to come up with a character whose sexuality isn’t really important to the plot).”

Although the series specifically targets the far right and the “woke-phobic” part of society, there have been a number of complaints about Frenchie’s same-sex lover from the toxic side of the fanbase.

But creator Eric Kripke has some advice for those who complain that the show is too “woke”: “Watch something else.”

“I clearly have a perspective and I’m not afraid to bring that perspective to the show. Anyone who wants to call the show ‘woke’ or whatever, that’s fine. Go watch something else,” he told The Hollywood Reporter.

“But I’m certainly not going to take any credit or apologize for what we do. Some viewers think Homelander is the hero. What do you say to that?

“The show has many facets. Subtlety is not one of them. So if that’s the message you’re taking away from it, then I’ll just give up.”

Frenchie has a dark secret

Unfortunately, Frenchie’s relationship with Colin cannot last. In The Boys Season 4, Episode 4, Frenchie struggles with the guilt he feels over killing Colin’s family.

All Colin knows is that his family was killed by a man with a strange scar on his ankle. Frenchie has this scar but has been able to hide it until now. But in the new episode of The Boys, he finally admits what he did. Colin is distraught and threatens to kill Frenchie if he ever comes near him again.

Is Frenchie dating Kimiko?

No, although I tried in the third season of The Boys, Frenchie and Kimiko have a loving but platonic relationship.

The two have been inseparable since they met in the first chapter of the Amazon Prime Video series, leading to speculation that they would enter into a romantic relationship.

After a long escape where they can’t make up their minds, Kimiko kisses Frenchie in Season 3, Episode 5 while she’s recovering in the hospital. They both look pretty shocked, and Frenchie walks out (only to be intercepted by Little Nina).

Later, they address the situation and Kimiko explains that the kiss felt weird, but not because it was bad or because they don’t love each other: it’s because they are more than just lovers; they are family.

In season 4 of The Boys, they continue to support each other as they work through their past traumas. Meanwhile, Kimiko confesses to Frenchie that she slept with someone else to get him to take a chance on Colin if it makes him happy.

Speaking to Deadline about their strong bond, Frenchie actor Tomer Capone said, “Eric likes to say that Frenchie and Kimiko are the heart of the show, and I agree.

“I always feel like when Kimiko and I have our scenes, something stops in the full tension of the show. Just for a second, there’s something about these two outsiders, these two animals, who have found each other and are persevering in this crazy, crazy world.”
