6 charged after 2 were cut outside graduation ceremony

Six men face violent gang charges after two people were stabbed following the high school graduation ceremony at Hofstra University on Long Island on Wednesday.

Sources told FOX 5 NY’s Jodi Goldberg that masked men ambushed a guest after 4 p.m. outside the David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex, where Academy Charter High School’s graduation ceremony was taking place.

The victim suffered a cut on his leg and another person who tried to intervene suffered a cut on his ear. According to sources, one of the victims was a participant and the other was a student.

The following people were taken into police custody:

  • Isaiah Moore, 19, of Uniondale
  • Devon Moore, 19, of Hempstead
  • Taiwan Jackson, 23, of Hempstead
  • Unique Pruitt, 21, of Hempstead
  • Devon Fenner, 18, of Hempstead
  • Zachariah Fulton, 19, of Hempstead

All six face charges of gang violence and weapons possession, and arraignment is scheduled for Thursday.

“All those entering the graduation ceremony went through magnetometers. We emphasize that this incident occurred outside of the graduation venue. Our security team is working with Nassau County Police and Hofstra Public Safety officials,” Academy Charter High Schools said in a statement.

The reason for the attack is unclear, but school officials were told it was likely a domestic dispute.
