Woman attacked by masked man on jogging track in Peachtree City – 95.5 WSB

PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. – Peachtree City police are investigating after a jogger was attacked by a masked man last week, the Fayette County Citizen reported.

Police told the Citizen that a woman was jogging on one of the city’s cart paths around 6:30 p.m. on June 14 when the masked man approached and attacked her.

“She fought back and took off his mask during the altercation,” police said.

The woman told police that the man then ran into the entrance of the nearby Balmoral apartment complex.

Police said the criminal investigation department is investigating the attack.

The woman was not identified and police did not provide a description of the attacker.

On June 17, a 14-year-old girl was jogging with members of her cross-country team when a man dressed in black jumped out of the woods and tried to grab her. The girl was able to escape. She described the man to police as someone wearing a black hoodie, black pants and a black cap, and possibly holding a guitar case.

The incident occurred around 8:30 a.m. in Peachtree Ridge Park. Police searched for the attacker but were unable to find him.

It is unclear whether the two attacks are connected. The two locations are only 96 kilometers apart.
