Amtrak service between Philadelphia and Connecticut suspended

Amtrak said the outage affects trains to and from New York’s Penn Station.

Amtrak service between Philadelphia and New Haven, Connecticut, was suspended Thursday afternoon as workers attempted to restore power to the New York area, Amtrak said.

Amtrak said the outage affects trains to and from New York’s Penn Station.

New Jersey Transit said its trains were also suspended at and from New York Penn Station.

Amtrak and NJ Transit say an unrelated bush fire is also affecting line repairs.

The outage was reported shortly after Amtrak warned that extreme heat in the Northeast could force trains to run more slowly and cause delays of up to an hour. It was not immediately clear whether the service disruption was caused by the heat.
