Man charged with sexual assault and aggravated assault: Passaic County prosecutor

PATERSON, NJ – Authorities have charged a man with aggravated assault and sexual assault after he was found responsible for an attack on a woman last year.

The victim stated that the perpetrator assaulted her both physically and sexually in the area of ​​10th Avenue and East 26th Street on June 16, 2023. According to a statement from Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes’ office, she reported it to officers the following day.

An investigation has been launched and officials said they have identified 38-year-old Keshawn Harley of Paterson as the suspect.

On Sunday morning, exactly one year later, prosecutors arrested Harley in the area of ​​Park Avenue and East 22nd Street in Paterson. He is charged with second-degree sexual assault, third-degree aggravated assault and simple assault (a public disorderly conduct charge), prosecutors said.

Officials have filed a motion to keep Harley in jail pending trial. A judge will hear the motion during a detention hearing scheduled for June 25.
