70,000 chaise lounges recalled due to crushing and amputation hazard – WHIO TV 7 and WHIO Radio

There have been three reports of fingers becoming trapped between the backrest and the chair frame, resulting in two partial finger amputations and one crush injury that required surgery to repair the damage.

The recall affects all Newport Aluminum Chaises from the Cinmar Frontgate Resort Collection with SKU 67333. They were sold in sets of two and were available in five colors: architectural bronze, champagne silver, cobalt, matte black and matte white.

The Frontgate Resort Collection Newport Teak Chaise Lounges, item number 166218, were also sold in sets of two in weathered or natural finishes.

They were sold from February 2014 to December 2023 in stores in Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, Ohio and Texas, as well as online and in catalogs, for $600 to $1,400.

If you own the recalled chairs, you should stop using them and contact Cinmar for a free repair. You must submit a photo of the chaise to receive the kit, which includes a new backrest support and instructions, the CPSC said.
