There is a high risk of rip currents on the Grand Strand beaches

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – People heading to beaches along the Grand Strand should be cautious.

The National Weather Service is warning of strong rip currents on the Grand Strand on Thursday.

Due to the hazard, life-threatening surf rip currents are likely, so the NWS says it’s best to avoid the water and follow the advice of local beach patrol and flag warning systems.

The agency also said beach conditions will improve by the weekend.
