Year-long investigation leads to arrest of Arcadia teenager in connection with murder and robbery in Punta Gorda

After a year-long investigation, an Arcadia teenager has been arrested in connection with a robbery and murder in Punta Gorda. Janari Richardson, 18, was reportedly taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals Federal Fugitive Task Force at the Desoto Landing Apartments in Arcadia on Tuesday. Richardson was charged with the robbery and murder of 30-year-old Port Charlotte resident Sean Lalley and booked into the Desoto County Jail before being transferred to the Charlotte County Jail. Punta Gorda officers responded to reports of a suspicious person to the Seven Palms Apartments in Punta Gorda on May 13. Officers said they found Lalley dead in his vehicle. After investigation, it was determined that Lalley had been shot in the car outside the apartment complex. Detectives launched a year-long investigation that led to the arrest of Richardson. Richardson is reportedly charged with first-degree murder with a firearm and robbery with a firearm. Detectives say they are continuing the investigation as they search for additional suspects. After a year-long investigation, an Arcadia teenager was arrested in connection with a robbery and murder in Port Charlotte.

Janari Richardson, 18, was reportedly taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals’ Federal Fugitive Task Force at the Desoto Landing Apartments in Arcadia on Tuesday.

Richardson was charged with the robbery and murder of 30-year-old Port Charlotte resident Sean Lalley and was initially taken to the Desoto County Jail before being transferred to the Charlotte County Jail.

Punta Gorda officers responded to reports of a suspicious person at the Seven Palms Apartments in Punta Gorda on May 13.

Officers said they found Lalley dead in his vehicle.

After investigation, it turned out that Lalley had been shot in the car at the apartment complex.

Investigators began a year-long investigation that ended with Richardson’s arrest. Richardson is reportedly charged with first-degree murder with a firearm and robbery with a firearm.

Investigators say they are continuing their investigation and looking for additional suspects.

The investigation was conducted by several local, state and federal agencies.
