Consumer warning for convenience store and restaurant in Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH, PA — The Allegheny County Health Department has issued a consumer alert for the Oak Hill Market on Oak Hill Drive in the Terrace Village neighborhood. The market is a grocery store that also sells prepared meals.

An inspection on Tuesday found too many rodent droppings to count in the corners of the supermarket and under the chips on the shelves. A bag of nibbled cheese pieces was found. Evidence of rodent nests was found on a wall in the receiving area.

According to the inspection report, it was difficult to distinguish between dirt and mouse droppings due to the contamination of the market.

There were no best-before dates on the chicken containers stored in the refrigerator.

The slush machine was not sanitized and the food vendor failed to demonstrate how to clean it properly. Raw eggs were found on ready-to-eat foods and beverages.

The market will remain open as long as the warning remains in effect.
