ABC-7 First Alert: Still strong winds, lighter winds and lower chance of rain accompany cooler temperatures on Thursday

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) – We remain under an ABC-7 Initial Warning as our active weather pattern begins to dissipate for the time being.

Wind is still expected on Thursday morning. It is expected to ease during the course of the day and become mild. The strongest winds appear to have already left the region for the time being.

Today the focus is on the drop in temperatures. Temperatures will be in the triple digits due to storm surge and some clouds in the region. Temperatures will be cooler throughout the region. Today will be the coolest day of the week, with temperatures ranging between 25 and 27 degrees. Temperatures of 32 degrees are expected in El Paso and 32 degrees in Las Cruces.

The chance of rain is still being checked, but it seems to be lower than yesterday.

Increased rain probability is expected in the region’s mountains today, including in the wildfire-affected area around Ruidoso.

According to the last update this morning, Salt Fire is burning 7,071 acres and South Fork Fire is burning 16,335 acres.
