3 cats dead, dog missing after fire spreads from garage to house

The damage from the fire is estimated at about $150,000.

SAN ANTONIO – Three cats are dead and a dog is still missing after a fire spread from a garage to a home in far west San Antonio Thursday morning, fire officials said.

The San Antonio Fire Department responded to the 700 block of Cypressbrook Drive around 4:45 a.m. for a report of a house fire.

When emergency responders arrived at the house, it was already engulfed in flames. The homeowner told officers that he went into the kitchen and saw smoke coming from the garage door. He then opened the door and saw that the garage was on fire.

The man and his wife left the house but said three cats did not make it out and they still could not find their dog.

The fire spread from the garage to the house. The homeowners have to leave their home due to the damage, which is estimated at about $150,000.

The cause is currently being investigated by fire inspectors.
