Night attacks by Ukraine on Russia: One man dies, oil depots burn down

A woman was killed in a nighttime Ukrainian drone attack in the southern Russian region of Krasnodar, local authorities said early Thursday. Further drone attacks across the country set fire to several oil depots.

Russia’s Ministry of Defense said Its air defense systems destroyed six drones in the Republic of Adygea, three each in the Bryansk and Krasnodar regions, and one drone each in the Rostov, Belgorod, Kursk and Oryol regions.

Governor of Krasnodar Region, Veniamin Kondratyev said A house was “completely destroyed” and a woman was killed in a nighttime drone attack in the city of Slavyansk on the Kuban, about 70 kilometers northwest of the regional capital.

“Unfortunately, a resident of the district has died. I express my deepest and most sincere condolences to her family and friends,” Kondratyev said on Telegram.

In the neighbouring Republic of Adygea, regional head Murat Kumpilov said Drone strikes set fire to an oil depot in the village of Enem, destroying an area of ​​around 400 square metres. He said no one was injured.

An oil depot fire was also reported in the central region of Tombov, where authorities said A drone attack set fire to an oil tank at the Platonovskaya depot.

The Russian Defense Ministry did not mention the drone attack in Tombov in any of its statements on Thursday morning.

Although there was no initial comment from Kyiv on the night-time attacks, Ukraine has previously claimed responsibility for similar attacks on Russian energy facilities.
