Israeli police examine bullet-riddled photos of Justice Minister Levin – Israel News

Israeli police on Wednesday launched an investigation into photos of Justice Minister Yariv Levin that were circulated online because the photos themselves were described as being riddled with bullets. Maariv reported.

The cyber unit is checking whether the profiles that uploaded the posts with the same picture are real or fictitious. In many cases, it has been discovered that some of the profiles are accounts abroad.

Levin is not the first minister to be targeted by such online campaigns this week. On Sunday, the Yisrael Beitenu party filed a police complaint after fake publications appeared on social media in which party leader Avigdor Lieberman claimed that he had initiated a unique investment project together with the energy company Energean, the report said.

The police report states: “The said report and everything that is described in detail in it is a complete lie. This is fake news that has no truth in it. The report was published in Russian and was apparently intended to make Israelis who speak the language believe it and send details or even money to the initiators of the report.”

Noam leader targets Lapid

“The call for the assassination of Justice Minister Yariv Levin is a direct result of the wild and irresponsible incitement by Yair Lapid,” said the Maariv The report quoted Noam party leader Avi Maoz as saying: “Every word that comes out of the opposition leader’s mouth lights another match in the fire of hatred and violence at the Kaplan Street protests every night.”

“I call on Lapid to act responsibly and respond immediately with a sharp and uncompromising condemnation before it escalates into a catastrophe.”
