A hotel receptionist on the South Korean island of Jeju was arrested for allegedly sneaking into the room of a Chinese tourist and sexually harassing her, police said on Tuesday.

This step came after she reported the incident to the police. According to her, the employee of the hotel in northern Jeju entered her room with a master key and raped her. The Korea Times reported.

She claimed she was drunk at a party with her friends and couldn’t stop him.

The surveillance camera footage showed that she was accompanied back to her room by Chinese fellow travelers, who left immediately afterwards, and that the suspect entered her room shortly thereafter. Maeil Business Newspaper reported.

The suspect denied the sexual assault. Sina English reported.

He said he received a call from the woman to room service and she consented to sex.

The hotel employee is being investigated on suspicion of “quasi-rape,” police said.

According to the South Korean Criminal Code, quasi-rape occurs when a person “has sexual intercourse with another person while taking advantage of that person’s unconsciousness or inability to resist.”

The penalty for rape is at least three years in prison.
