ABC-7 First Alert – Gusty winds will continue overnight, stirring up some dust and sand.

Parts of the observation area were hit with heavy showers and storms today, including hail, heavy rain and gusty winds. Parts of Chaparral, White Sands and Hudspeth counties were hit with heavy rain. The El Paso airport recorded just under an inch of rain, while no rain was measured in Las Cruces. Gusty southeast winds will continue through the night, especially on the west side of the city.

There may be some thunderstorms tomorrow, but no severe weather is expected. The cloud cover will keep temperatures between 30 and 35 degrees.

Ruidoso Update:

Most of the precipitation remained in Ruidoso north of the fires, where Doppler radar estimates showed 1-2 inches of rainfall. Thursday will see about 40% precipitation again in that area, with gusty winds at times.
