Motorcyclist dies in fire accident in Newburg district

LOUISVILLE, Kentucky (WAVE) – A man was killed in a fiery accident in the Newburg neighborhood Wednesday evening.

Louisville Police responded to a 911 call about a crash in the 5600 block of Preston Highway at approximately 10:30 p.m. Initial investigation revealed that a motorcycle went out of control and collided with a vehicle, which caught fire as a result of the collision.

Louisville Fire Department and Emergency Services were able to quickly extinguish the fire.

The motorcyclist, who was not wearing a helmet, according to an LMPD spokesperson, died at the scene. The driver of the other vehicle was taken to UofL Hospital and is expected to survive.
