Man dead after shooting involving Pueblo police Wednesday night

PUEBLO – A man is dead after a shooting involving Pueblo police Wednesday evening. The shooting occurred around 7:45 p.m. in the parking lot of Popeyes near the intersection of Highway 50 and Outlook Boulevard.

According to Pueblo police, a 911 call came in about an armed person. Officers discovered an armed man in a vehicle at the scene.

Police say officers gave the man orders. They say the man fired at officers and officers fired back. Police say more than two officers were involved in the shooting and the man died at the scene. Police say no officers were injured in the incident.

According to police, the officers were placed on paid administrative leave.
