UPDATE: Boiling water warning

The City of Livonia’s boil water advisory remains in effect for much of the city. However, based on updated information, residents and businesses in the northwestern portion of the affected area (see blue shaded area on the map) are no longer advised to boil their water.

Those living in the areas marked in red on the map cannot drink their tap water and must continue to boil water or use bottled water. Water must be boiled for at least one minute and then allowed to cool before use. Boiled or bottled water may be used for drinking, making ice, washing dishes, brushing teeth and preparing food until further notice.

If you have questions about your address based on the map, please continue to boil water or use bottled water.

Low pressure was reported this morning for about 30 minutes until about 9:10 a.m. A mechanical malfunction in a pressure reducing valve resulted in low pressure, but the cause is not yet known. A contractor has been contacted. This is not a problem with the water supplied by the Great Lakes Water Authority.

There are no restrictions on showering and doing laundry.

Once the boil water advisory is lifted, notifications will also be distributed through local television stations, print media, radio stations, the City’s website, the Livonia Community Facebook page, email, and Code Red text message alerts.

The Kirksey Recreation Center, Livonia Libraries and Senior Center remain open.
