Lee County Juvenile Detention Center Brawl Under Investigation – CNAW 2 with Colin Scroggins

Opelika police are investigating after a fight broke out at the Lee County Juvenile Detention Center.

Police responded to a fight on June 19, 2024 at approximately 6:30 p.m. at the Lee County Youth Development Center, 1109 Spring Drive.

Officers discovered several juvenile inmates barricaded in the jail. “With assistance from the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, officers were able to enter and secure the building,” police said. “No inmates, staff or emergency personnel were injured in this incident.”

Officers are still in the area investigating and are asking residents to avoid the area around Spring Drive and Dallas Drive.
