Warm Spring police chief fired, police service suspended after investigation

WARM SPRINGS, Ga. (WRBL) — The city of Warm Springs announced Wednesday that it had fired its police chief and placed police officers on administrative leave following a department-wide investigation.

The city says the decision to fire Warm Springs Police Chief Emilio Quintana and place the police department under administrative restriction was made after considering recent events and renewed concerns about police conduct.

The city has appointed Aisha Al-Khalifa as interim police chief and said Al-Khalifa will oversee the department’s work during the investigation. The city will receive assistance from neighboring law enforcement agencies to ensure essential police services continue without interruption.

Warm Springs Mayor Robyn Pynenburg said, “Our primary commitment is to the safety and welfare of the community. We take these matters very seriously and will conduct a thorough investigation to resolve any issues within our police department.”
