Knife-armed suspect shot dead by Orange County police

A man armed with a knife was shot dead by police after allegedly threatening passersby in Fullerton.

On June 15, Fullerton Police responded to reports of a man threatening passersby in the 200 block of East Imperial Highway around 5 a.m.


When officers arrived, they discovered a man holding what appeared to be a knife in each hand. Police ordered the man to drop his weapons, but he refused to cooperate.

The man suddenly ran toward police while still holding the knives, authorities said.

The suspect was then shot by police officers. He was taken to a local trauma center where he later died.

None of the officers were injured in the incident. A knife and a box cutter were found near the suspect at the scene.

The identity of the suspect will be released by the Orange County Coroner’s Office pending completion of the investigation.

“As usual, the Orange County District Attorney’s Office responded to the conduct
an independent investigation into the actions of the officials during this
“Shooting,” authorities said. “Fullerton Police Department detectives assigned to Crimes Against Persons will investigate possible criminal conduct by the suspect.”

Police believe there are witnesses who observed the suspect’s actions leading up to the fatal altercation.
