DC Bar Association wants to suspend Hunter Biden’s law license after felony conviction

The Washington, DC, Mandatory Bar Association on Monday requested that Hunter Biden’s law license be suspended after he was found guilty of lying on a gun application.

The Washington DC Bar Association asked an appeals court to punish Biden under Rule XI, which requires immediate suspension once the court is informed that he has committed a “serious crime” – which includes any felonies. The president’s son was found guilty last week of lying about his drug use on a background check and lying about possessing a gun while on drugs or while addicted to drugs, which he denied. The appeals court will begin proceedings to determine whether the crime was “serious.”

After the conviction, Biden expressed his gratitude for his support network.

Today, I am more grateful for the love and support I received last week from Melissa, my family, friends and community than I am disappointed with the outcome,” he said. “Recovery is possible by God’s grace, and I am blessed to experience that gift day by day.”

Special Counsel David Weiss, who led the investigation into Biden, argued that the case was about decisions he made during his drug addiction.

“Although there is plenty of testimony about the defendant’s drug and alcohol abuse, ultimately this case was not just about addiction – a disease that afflicts families across the United States, including Hunter Biden’s family,” Weiss said. “This case was about the illegal choices the defendant made while in the grips of addiction.”

Biden was a former crack addict and has made numerous headlines over the past decade for his activities during that time. In December, he was indicted on tax evasion, false tax returns and failure to pay taxes. The trial begins in September.

TIMELINE: How the gun charge against Hunter Biden became a trial

In 2020, the New York Post reported that Hunter Biden had introduced then-Vice President Joe Biden to an executive at a Ukrainian energy company, a year before Joe Biden asked authorities to fire a prosecutor who was allegedly investigating the company. Joe Biden suggested the story was part of a disinformation campaign.

A lawyer for Hunter Biden did not immediately respond to The National Desk’s request for comment.
