The construction worker, 27-year-old David O’Donnell, fell eight stories while working on the University of Chicago’s new cancer center in Hyde Park and died.

Another worker also fell but survived. His family also filed suit last week. In their suit, they claimed that workers had complained about the stability of that corner days earlier, when the scaffolding was even lower.

The O’Donnell family’s lawyers plan to sue general contractor Turner Construction and Adjustable Forms Concrete.
