3 dead in Richmond shootings – NBC Bay Area

Richmond residents are in uproar after three people were reportedly killed in shootings in less than ten hours.

The shootings are currently under investigation and police are checking whether there is a connection between the incidents.

The shooting began after 4 p.m. Tuesday in the area of 7th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue, near the Iron Triangle neighborhood.

In this case, four people were shot and two of the victims died. Hours later, another shooting claimed a third life.

David Rodriguez, who was informed of the shooting by his co-workers, said the area is normally quiet. He was not in the area when the shooting occurred, but his truck was there and was hit by bullets twice.

Richmond police said one person died at the scene. Three other victims were taken to a hospital, where another person was pronounced dead.

According to published reports, one of those killed was a pregnant woman, but police have not confirmed this claim.

“I was there just last week, everything was quiet, and just hearing about it is a shock,” said City Councilman Melvin Willis, who represents the district where the shooting occurred. “All I can do is work in our city to understand what happened, make sure our community members have access to the resources available, and move the police investigation forward to identify the perpetrators and the motive behind it.”

News of the shooting spread quickly throughout the neighborhood.

“It’s Richmond,” said resident Juan Mercado. “We can’t really change it, but we have to come together as a community.”

Hours later, another person was shot on Kelsey Street in North Richmond. The victim died at the scene.
