One dead after motorcycle accident on Fort Jackson Boulevard

The accident remains under investigation by the Columbia Police Department and the Richland County Coroner’s Office.

COLUMBIA, SC — A Columbia motorcyclist was killed in a crash in Columbia Wednesday evening.

Ramey Reddie Jr., 51, of Columbia, died at the scene of the accident, according to the Richland County Coroner’s Office.

According to police, Reddie was traveling east on Fort Jackson Boulevard when the motorcycle collided with a GMC traveling west.

According to police, the GMC driver signaled to make a left turn on Wildcat Road. After reviewing the video, police said the motorcyclist attempted to avoid impact and turned the motorcycle off before sliding several feet on the roadway and colliding with the passenger side of the GMC.

The accident remains under investigation by the Columbia Police Department and the Richland County Coroner’s Office.
