Route 6 closed due to serious traffic accident

Three cars were involved in a serious accident on Route 6 eastbound, which connects Route 17 to the Palisades Interstate Parkway. Traffic was shut down while several Hatzalah ambulances from Kiryas Yoel helped transport several victims to area hospitals.

The accident was a head-on collision in which a car collided with another vehicle at more than 80 km/h, causing the airbags to deploy. The passenger was wearing a seat belt at the time.

One victim was pronounced dead at the scene. A second victim, who was conscious and alert, complained of pelvic and lower back pain and had an obvious arterial bleed on the right arm, which was treated with a tourniquet. The victim was flown by helicopter to a nearby hospital.

Route 6 remained closed during the police investigation at the scene.
