Good Samaritans arrest illegal immigrant who allegedly raped teenager at knifepoint

An illegal immigrant from Ecuador was arrested after Good Samaritans saw the suspect hide under a car after being confronted. Christian Geovanny Inga-Landi is said to have bound and gagged two 13-year-olds in a park in broad daylight and raped one of them, according to Fox News:

“A group of New Yorkers who recognized the suspect in the brutal rape of a 13-year-old arrested him and held him until police arrived around 1 a.m. Tuesday, cellphone video shows.

“Christian Geovanny Inga-Landi, a 25-year-old from Ecuador, entered the country illegally near Eagle Pass, Texas, in 2021, police said.

“He was arrested in Texas and committed several misdemeanors in New York City before he drove two 13-year-olds, a boy and a girl, into the woods near Kissena Park with a machete-like knife on Thursday, according to police. After hiding in the bushes, he tied the children’s wrists and raped the girl, according to police. He then stole their cellphones and ordered them to sit still while he fled.

“With the help of the victims, police created a sketch of the suspect. Then a local resident spotted him on surveillance video, which police also released.

“A group of men at a delicatessen in nearby Corona recognized him and pounced on him. They then held him until police arrived, authorities said.

“Witness video shows a group of NYPD officers surrounding the Ecuadorian illegal immigrant accused of raping a girl in a park and dragging him from under a car after a group of New Yorkers cornered him and made a citizen’s arrest.

“Christian Geovanny Inga-Landi, 25, was seen in the clip covered in blood and shirtless.

“‘This attack on two children in broad daylight in a city park strikes at the core of our society,’ said Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz.

“The shocking attack woke up New Yorkers, and they began looking for Inga-Landi as soon as the NYPD obtained and released surveillance images showing his face.”
