Two dead after dump truck accident in Wayne County

WAYNE COUNTY, Pennsylvania – Two people were killed in an accident at a construction site in Wayne County Wednesday morning.

According to officials, Brian Edwards, 51, of Honesdale was operating a dump truck at the Wayco, Inc. quarry and asphalt plant in Palmyra Township at approximately 11:30 a.m. when he suffered what is believed to be a medical emergency and lost consciousness, causing the dump truck to roll backwards and strike James Martzen, 72, of Waymart.

Martzen and Edwards were killed.

Autopsies on both men are scheduled for Friday.

The fatal accident remains under investigation in Wayne County.
