AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – A cold front is approaching Thursday, bringing with it the possibility of severe storms. We have issued an FIRST notification – we have the option to receive notifications Thursday through Friday.

FIRST ALERT this evening into early Friday due to multiple rounds of storms. Strong thunderstorm gusts of up to 60 miles per hour and large hail are the main concerns, but an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out. If we see bad weather it would most likely be Thursday afternoon/evening, but there will be several rounds including one this evening, another on Thursday afternoon and then a third on Friday morning.

Scattered showers and storms are possible this evening into tonight, particularly in areas near and north of I-20. Better chances for showers and possibly strong storms this evening into early Thursday morning. Temperatures will be warm this evening, with lows around 70°.

Stay weather aware on Thursday – especially in the afternoon. Scattered showers and storms are expected, some of which may be severe. Highs will be in the low 80s in the northern CSRA and in the low 90s in the southern CSRA. Thursday will be gusty with sustained wind speeds between 15 and 20 mph.

Friday will be another windy day, with showers and storms possible early in the day. Winds will be sustained around 20 mph and gusts will be higher. Highs will be in the low to mid 80s and most of the afternoon is expected to remain dry for the CSRA.

This weekend things are looking cooler behind the front. Morning lows will be in the 50s both mornings this weekend and highs will be below average in the upper 70s to lower 80s. Keep it here for updates throughout the week.
