‘World’s Best’ Inspired Cocktail Bar Coming to Houston’s Montrose

Of Fortunea high-end cocktail bar, is expected to debut in late 2024 at Regent’s Square mixed-use development at 3515 West Dallas. The bar joins Underbelly Hospitality’s Georgia James Steak House, Flight Club social darts store And Flower & Cream artisanal ice cream parlor. The upcoming bar aims to deliver a luxurious, globally inspired craft cocktail experience.

De Fortune is the first concept of the new hotel group MAKE Investments founded by Mayur Desaian entrepreneur with a background in the hospitality industry, as well as Atik Mistry, Kinjal Desai And Emish Patel. MAKE represents the first letter of each of their first names, and the partners describe themselves as “cocktail enthusiasts”. They began planning the bar more than two years ago while sharing libations.

“We wanted to create something unique, upscale and stylish on a level never before seen in Houston nightlife,” Desai said, adding that “We envision a hospitality-driven experience that will connect with a clientele local and selective visitor who appreciates superb design, anticipation service, stunning cocktails and an upbeat environment while allowing guests to easily chat around the table.

De Fortune, meaning “fortune” or “luck” in French, was chosen to express the partners’ desire to “keep things fresh with regular updates reflecting seasonal ingredients.” New drink formats and recipes, using seasonal ingredients, exotic spices and a vast inventory of spirits from around the world, will allow the bar to vibrate in the antithesis of the “improvised” – a reliable, modern and sustainable immersion in the the most luxurious possibilities of the cocktail experience.

When it opens later this year, it will be Regent Square’s first bar focused on craft cocktails, and it will also offer a limited menu of small bites and snacks. It is inspired by famous international bars such as The clumsy ones in Athens, Greece and Atlas Bar in Singapore both of which have spots on The 50 best bars in the world list. It’s an ambitious undertaking, but Houston is no stranger to world-class bars and hospitality.

The partners are working with Unfiltered Hospitality, a Miami-based beverage consultancy, to design a beverage menu with international, as well as local, appeal. Gin Design Group to transform the 1,614 square foot space into a chic and intimate bar full of chic and moody interiors. Gin Design is responsible for the appearance of many Houston restaurants, including Eunice in Upper Kirby, June in the heights, MaKiin in River Oaks And The Lymbar in Midtown. De Fortune’s first renderings depict a look awash in marble surfaces that mixes art deco elements with clean, geometric lines.

Although the menu is still in development, if De Fortune lives up to its lofty aspirations, it will certainly be a welcome addition to Houston’s world-class bar scene and shine a spotlight on the booming Allen Parkway corridor .
