Pennsylvania man killed in dispute over parking space

A Pennsylvania man was shot and killed Tuesday after allegedly arguing over a parking space.

The shooting occurred around 2 p.m. in Export, about 20 miles east of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania State Police said.

Daniel Chicka, 65, was visiting his girlfriend when he was shot in the street. Matt Miller, 32, was arrested.

Neighbors said the dispute over the parking space lasted several months before escalating this week. Another neighbor said Miller had claimed territory over the parking space.

Pennsylvania State Police Trooper Steve Limani told WTAE that both men had weapons.

“Apparently these two neighbors had an ongoing dispute over parking, which is a shame because it escalated to one of the neighbors shooting the other and the other subsequently dying from the gunfire,” Limani said.

“I heard something about (the parking dispute) a few weeks or months ago, but I never thought it would get to the point where someone would get killed,” a neighbor told WXPI.

Officials said no charges have been filed against Miller as investigators are still collecting surveillance video of the incident to better understand the sequence of events.

According to KDKA, five shots were fired and Miller claimed self-defense.
