19.6., 17:18 hrs—The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office said a man was pronounced dead at the scene.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found that three different vehicles were involved in the accident.

The following was released by the Sheriff’s Office:

“A 2002 Ford F-250, driven by James R. Shaughnessy, 69, of Canastota, NY, was traveling southbound on Route 46 when it struck the rearview mirror of a 2017 Ford F250, driven by Anthony J. Donatelli, 50, of Forestport, NY. Donatelli was traveling northbound on Route 46. After the first collision, Shaughnessy lost control of his vehicle and veered into the northbound lanes where a third vehicle collided head-on. The driver of that vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. Shaughnessy was ejected from his vehicle as a result of the crash. He was airlifted to SUNY Upstate via Mercy Flight for non-life threatening injuries. Donatelli was not injured in the crash and only sustained property damage to his vehicle.”

The crash is currently still under investigation.

The identity of the deceased driver will not be released by law enforcement until next of kin have been notified.

WESTERN, NY – A two-vehicle crash is being investigated by the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office.

According to Sheriff Rob Maciol, traffic delays are expected on State Route 46 in the town of Western from Main Street to Dopp Hill Road.

“More information will be released at a later date,” the sheriff’s office said in a press release.
