19-year-old from McHenry killed in motorcycle crash on Lake and Cook counties border

A 19-year-old McHenry man was ejected from his car and killed in a motorcycle crash with an SUV on the Lake County-Cook County border, police said.

The Arlington Heights Police Department, Palatine Fire Department and Arlington Heights Fire Department responded to a one-car crash with injuries in the area of ​​Lake Cook Road and Wilke Road in Arlington Heights at around 3:50 p.m. Tuesday.

According to police, a 2005 Kawasaki Concours motorcycle and a 2014 Toyota Rav4 were involved.

An initial investigation revealed that the motorcycle, operated by Jack Fuchs, 19, of McHenry, was traveling east in the center lane of Lake Cook Road, approaching the intersection with Wilke Road.

The Toyota stopped and waited to turn left from westbound Lake Cook Road onto southbound Wilke Road.

According to police, the Toyota began turning left onto Wilke Road and entered the eastbound lanes of Lake Cook Road.

In order to avoid a collision with the Toyota, Fuchs attempted to run over the motorcycle using an evasive maneuver. In doing so, it fell and slid onto its right side.

Fuchs was thrown out and hit the rear passenger side of the Toyota.

Police officials said Fox, who was not wearing a helmet, was found unconscious on the street.

Bystanders on site immediately began to resuscitate Fuchs before the fire department and police arrived.

Fuchs was taken by ambulance to Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights, where he succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival.

The Arlington Heights Police Department and the Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction Unit of the Major Case Assistance Team (MCAT) are investigating the accident.

No summonses were issued and no charges filed, police officials said.

Lake Cook Road eastbound was closed between Route 53 and Arlington Heights Road for several hours while investigators examined the scene of the accident.
