14-year-old killed, another injured in accident in Tuscaloosa County

A teenager is dead and another was injured in a car crash in Tuscaloosa County on Tuesday.

Corporal Reginal King, a spokesman for the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s state troopers, confirmed the fatal accident Wednesday afternoon.

ALEA doesn’t release as many details about crashes involving teen drivers, but King said the crash happened around 5:30 a.m. Tuesday on Clements Road in east Tuscaloosa County.

He said a 14-year-old from Cottondale drove a 2004 Chevrolet SSR off the road and overturned.

Another 14-year-old from Vance in the vehicle was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

The 14-year-old driver was injured and taken to a nearby hospital.

King said the accident happened around 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
