Los Banos man killed in crash early Wednesday morning – KION546

HOLLISTER, Calif. (KION-TV) – Officers with the California Highway Patrol (CHP) Hollister-Gilroy responded to a fatal crash that occurred around 3:55 a.m. Wednesday morning on Shore Road east of Lake Road.

A CHP news release said the crash involved a 1999 Toyota Camry traveling eastbound on Shore Road. The speed of the Toyota is unknown. The driver of the vehicle was a 20-year-old male and resident of Los Banos.

The second driver, a 67-year-old man from Hollister, was driving a 2020 Hyundai Accent westbound on Shore Road at 55 mph.

As the Toyota moved into the westbound lane, it collided head-on with the Hyundai.

Emergency crews arrived on scene and took the 20-year-old driver to Hazel Hawkins Memorial Hospital with the intention of airlifting him to Natividad Hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries en route.

The driver of the Hyundai suffered minor injuries and was taken to Natividad Hospital.

It was not suspected that drugs and/or alcohol were involved in this accident.
