PNCR member Vanessa Kissoon (second from left) during her term as parliamentarian.

Acting People’s National Congress Reform (PNCR) leader Aubrey Norton on Wednesday denied allegations that he allegedly asked party member Vanessa Kissoon for a sexual favour when he brought her to Linden at the request of Sharma Solomon.

“At no time have I ever been involved in the sexual harassment of anyone in this country or abroad,” Mr Norton said in a video.

Norton described Mr Egland Gomes’ Facebook post as “malicious and false”, saying at no point did Mr Solomon ask him to take Ms Kissoon to Linden and they never travelled alone in a vehicle to that south-eastern town. He called on the duo to explain their position on Mr Gomes’ claim. “I would like to call on Sharma Solomon and Vanessa Kissoon to comment on this issue as failure to do so would suggest that they are complicit in this false and malicious post.

When contacted by phone, Ms Kissoon declined to speak about Mr Gomes’ allegation on Facebook. “I have no comment at the moment but I will look into it,” she told Demerara Waves Online News. Mr Solomon did not answer the phone or respond to messages.

Mr Norton said he would take legal action.

The PNCR leader, who received the most nominations for his re-election in the June 28-30 congress, believes that the accusation of sexual harassment was “part of a political conspiracy, since I submitted more nominations than my competitors and Egland Gomes is known to be campaigning for one of the people running in these elections.”

The other nominees for the post of Chairman are Attorney Roysdale Forde, Solicitor Amanza Walton-Desir, Economist Carl Greenidge, Gold Miner Simona Broomes, Accountant Volda Lawrence and Attorney Dr Gary Best.
