Judge decides on duration of driving ban for Zhukovskyy

Hearing on the suspension of Volodymyr Zhukovsky’s driving license

A hearing was held Wednesday to determine how long the license should be suspended for the truck driver who was acquitted of all charges related to a 2019 crash that killed seven motorcyclists in Randolph. Last month, an administrative law judge ruled that Volodymyr Zhukovskyy’s “unlawful act” contributed to the fatal crash. That judge upheld the suspension of Zhukovskyy’s license and must now determine how long the suspension will remain in effect. Wednesday’s hearing, which came two days before the fifth anniversary of the crash, was filled with emotional testimony from the victims’ relatives. Five people spoke about the impact the crash has had on their lives, including family and friends who spoke about the depression and anxiety they’ve had since that day and their insomnia. “Seeing family, friends, people who were involved. There are always memories of trying to make something positive out of it, spending some time with family and enjoying the weekend, putting this thing behind you, but it’s difficult for sure,” Manuel Ribeiro, who survived the crash, told WMUR. The judge will take 15 days to make a decision on the driver’s license. Zhukovskyy can have his license revoked for a maximum of seven years.>> Download the free WMUR app to get updates on the go: Apple | Google Play <

A hearing was held Wednesday to determine how long the license of the truck driver who was acquitted of all charges related to a 2019 crash that killed seven motorcyclists in Randolph should be suspended.

Last month, the administrative judge ruled that Volodymyr Zhukovskyy’s “unlawful conduct” contributed to the fatal accident. The judge upheld the suspension of Zhukovskyy’s driving license and must now decide how long that suspension will remain in effect.

Wednesday’s hearing, which took place two days before the fifth anniversary of the plane crash, was filled with emotional testimony from the victims’ relatives.

Five people spoke about the impact the crash had on their lives. Their family and friends spoke about the depression and anxiety they have felt since that day and about their sleep problems.

“Seeing family, friends, people who were involved. You’re constantly reminded to make something positive out of it, spend time with family, enjoy the weekend and put this thing behind you. But it’s definitely difficult,” Manuel Ribeiro, who survived the accident, told WMUR.

The judge will need 15 days to make a decision on the license. Zhukovskyy can have his license revoked for a maximum of seven years.
