UPDATES: More charges filed against man accused of sexually abusing young girl in Chambersburg for years

June 19, 2024 – Additional charges have been filed against a Chambersburg man accused of sexually assaulting and molesting children in his home for several years. Morris Franklin Gibson Jr. was previously charged with a total of 34 child sex crimes in December 2023, with four of those charges later withdrawn and replaced with two other charges. This week, he was charged with seven additional felonies and one misdemeanor. Gibson faces another set of charges of rape of a child, sexual assault, unlawful contact with a minor, corruption of minors, three counts of sexual abuse of persons under the age of 13, and exhibitionism. He remains behind bars on a total of $1,000,000 bail.

The latest charges appear to be connected to an alleged multi-year abuse of a seven-year-old victim that PSP says Gibson committed. He also reportedly sexually assaulted her while they were together. In addition, cops say interviews with the victim and the rest of her family who were familiar with the abuse later revealed that Gibson told the victim not to tell anyone about the touching or “he would go to jail.”

Gibson is not the only person connected to this case. His wife, Brittany Colleen Gibson, has been charged with a number of crimes, including enticement of a minor, assault and child endangerment. Gibson has since posted $250,000 bail with the help of a surety, but is still due in Franklin County Common Pleas Court.

Morris Gibson was unable to raise the total bail amount of $1,000,000.
