Social worker attacked in Peekskill dies

A social worker who was attacked while interacting with clients in Peekskill has died.

Maria Coto, a social worker with the Westchester County Department of Social Services, was attacked at a South Street residence on Tuesday, May 14, according to authorities.

Haseem Jenkins, 31, was arrested and charged with attempted murderIt is unclear whether these fees will be increased.

Westchester County Executive George Latimer issued a statement expressing sadness and outrage over Coto’s death, saying in part: “It is outrageous that someone whose life was dedicated to helping others was cruelly taken from his friends and family.”
