Trials are scheduled for two defendants in the Emporia stabbing case.

On June 25, 18-year-old Raena Grana will have a preliminary hearing on charges of aggravated assault and obstructing prosecution.

On July 29, 45-year-old Gary Grana will have a preliminary hearing on charges of assault and disturbing the peace.

Emporia police said the case was initiated following reports of a stabbing at 1101 Congress on June 1. Police Capt. Lisa Hayes said there was a “neighborhood dispute involving multiple parties” and one victim, an unnamed adult male, suffered a non-life-threatening stab wound to the back. The victim was subsequently transported to Newman Regional Health for medical treatment.
