SAPD: Two people killed after car crash with shooting

The passenger in the car died from a gunshot wound and a man in the ditch was pinned under the vehicle and died instantly, officials say.

SAN ANTONIO – Two people are dead after a shooting on the west side caused a car to crash into a ditch late Tuesday night, police said. Officials say the gunman drove away from the scene and they are now searching for them.

San Antonio Police were called to the intersection of West Martin Street and Northwest 24th Street around 11:15 p.m. for reports of a shooting and a car crash.

When officers arrived on the scene, they found a car in the ditch with a man trapped underneath and a woman injured. The passenger in the car had been fatally shot and the driver of the car had to be rescued from the car by rescue workers.

According to police, the driver and his passenger were shot, causing their car to veer off the road and fall into a ditch. Two other people were sitting in the ditch at the time and were hit by the victim’s vehicle. According to police, one man was trapped and died instantly, while the woman who was traveling with him was injured but survived.

As for the occupants of the car, the woman died of gunshot wounds and the man driving was taken to hospital by witnesses. At last check, he was said to be in critical condition.

Police are still searching for the shooter in this case. SAPD has not provided a description of the shooter.
