Collingdale Town Council votes to fire Police Chief Patrick Kilroy

COLLINGDALE, Pennsylvania (WPVI) – Council members in Collingdale, Delaware County, have voted to fire the county’s police chief.

The vote on Tuesday evening was 5-2 in favor of removing Police Chief Patrick Kilroy.

The vote took place despite a full house of community members supporting the chief.

Residents, several council members and officials all testified to Kilroy’s efforts to make safety in Collingdale his top priority.

Council members who oppose Kilroy cited the lack of officers in the police force and what they see as excessive overtime as reasons for Kilroy’s dismissal.

The records show that Kilroy has requested the hiring of additional officers to reduce overtime costs.

Kilroy was sworn in last December.
