Sub-inspector arrested for ‘raping’ female police chief at gunpoint in Telangana

Hyderabad: A police sub-inspector (SI) was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly raping a woman superintendent of police at gunpoint in Telangana’s Jayashankar Bhupalpally district, police said.

The SI, who is posted at Kaleswaram police station in the district, was accused by the woman, who is also posted at the same police station, of sexually harassing her in a guest room of an irrigation project on June 15, sources said.

In a complaint, the woman alleged that the SI threatened her with his revolver and raped her, and threatened her with dire consequences if she told anyone about it.

“This is her allegation (that the SI raped her at gunpoint) in the complaint. We will find out the facts,” a police official said.

The woman further stated that she had been stalked by the SI several times.

Based on the complaint, the SI has been booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), the official added, adding that further investigation is underway.
