2 women rescued on paddleboards from Long Island Sound

According to police, two women were rescued from Long Island Sound.

According to police, the incident occurred around 6 p.m. on Tuesday north of Cedar Brook in Mount Sinai.

Gabriella Carleo, 31, and Selena Miranda, 26, were out on paddleboards and were unable to turn back because of the strong current.

The duo called 911 and a Suffolk police helicopter was able to locate them and officers took them to safety.

The women were not injured.
