Kaleshwaram SI arrested for raping policewoman

Sub-Inspector of Police PVS Bhavanisen Goud of Kaleshwaram police station in Jayashankar Bhupalapally district was arrested for raping a woman constable of the same station. The SI was arrested following a complaint by the woman constable under Section 376(2) (A) (B), Section 324, Section 449, Section 506 and Section 27 of the Arms Act.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) A. Sampath Rao confirmed that a complaint has been filed and an investigation is underway. According to sources, SI Bhavanisen Goud was taken into custody and questioned on Tuesday evening. The allegations include threats from the SI, who threatened the victim with his service weapon and warned her not to reveal his advances.

The policewoman approached Bhupalpally Superintendent of Police Kiran Khare and narrated her month-long ordeal. The SP reportedly directed DSP Katram to investigate the matter. There are unconfirmed reports that Goud has also harassed other policewomen.

SI Bhavanisen Goud, who earlier served at Rebbena police station in Kumuram Bheem Asifabad district, was accused of sexually harassing a woman in July 2022 on the pretext of helping her prepare for the police officer recruitment exam. He was subsequently suspended. Despite the ongoing trial, he was later transferred to Kaleshwaram police station.

Before the incident in Rebbena, he was alleged to have sexually harassed another woman. Bhavanisen Goud, originally recruited as a police officer, received an additional promotion for his “active participation in anti-Naxalite operations”. He hails from the town of Asifabad.
